Mr. Alexander was raised in Charlottesville and Richmond, Virginia, and on a farm near Bremo Bluff, Virginia. He attended the University of Virginia, where he majored in both Anthropology and History, as well as played varsity Men’s Soccer. Following two years of experience with social service agencies, he attended the Washington & Lee University School of Law, where he was on the Law Review.
Immediately following Law School, Mr. Alexander served for a year as the sole personal law clerk for the late Justice A. Christian Compton of the Virginia Supreme Court. He then accepted a position as Associate with the firm that became of Edmunds & Williams, in Lynchburg, Virginia, where he was a partner for 6 years. In 1994, he participated in the development of the firm of Freeman, Dunn, Alexander, which changed names and partners over the next 25 years.
On January 1, 2020, Mr. Alexander opened his office as a solo practitioner under the firm name of Bevin Alexander Law, PLC.
During these years, Mr. Alexander was active in many professional and community activities. He served on the Legal Services Corporation of Virginia, Inc. Board of Directors, and was appointed by the General Assembly to serve a maximum two four-year terms on the Judicial Inquiry & Review Commission, which is responsible for judicial ethics disciplinary matters. He also served a 3-year term on the Virginia State Bar Judicial Candidate Evaluation Committee, including one year as Chairman.
For eight (8) successive years, Mr. Alexander presented the annual case law update to the Medical Malpractice Section of the Virginia Association of Defense Attorneys. In addition, he has written articles and other written materials on medical malpractice, as well as presented lectures to law school and other groups on the subject.
